Great pool and location to town and activities
A beatiful locaction very good value for money the staff could not be more helpful 2 hundred yards from the centre of Paihia overlooking the Bay of Islands and yet not noisy.
good location on bayside promenade and close to pier for boat trips. good facilities and good value buffet dinner.
orientation of accommodation wings means that few if any rooms could enjoy a bay view.
I loved the fact that Kingsgate had a great gym that we could use. When I look at hotels I always go for those that have a gym facility first. The beautiful pool was a bonus and the provate spa area. Great to advertise FREE bikes for guests to use. The easy walking distance into the main shopping and restaurant area. The very flexiable and wonderful staff were great. Mel at the front reception just makes you want to book again at this hotel and the older lady in the restaurant was amzing very helpful, very lovely she is what made our stay that extra special.
When we were walking back to our room the cleaners were in a room a cpl of doors down from us, and they were arguing which was very loud and in my opinion not very professional. The older european woman was quiet and tried to keep things in control but the other maori? woman just kept arguing and got a bit agressive (verbally). The rooms were not sound proof, we could hear everything that was happening in the room next to us and it kept us up for the two nights we were there (it was ok tho) butt on the first night we could smell ciggarette smoke coming under our door (as our room was a connecting one) it was discusting really. We tried to call the reception or staff but no one was avaialbe to deal with the situation, you would think a big hotel like this would be 24 hrs or at least have a number to contact in cases like this. we did conplain to the reception staff and they were really good about it and said they would get the duty manager to check it out.
As per all above questions. Loved it. Next time would like to use the gym facilities.
Great location - good service - accomodating and friendly staff!
I was a bit dissapointed that we were allocated a room that was about furthest from all the hotel facilities even though it was our first stay. Also although the hotel has a pool it is situated at the front of the hotel with little public privacy, it being next to a main thoroughfare and with next to no screening. During our stay we never used the poo and we never saw any other guest using it. Perhaps sutable screening could be errected ar planted to provide a little privacy.
Clean and modern. Staff friendly.
What do you mean? Any dislike must be a complaint by its very nature. I have had very many buffets in my years of travel. Tuesday night was a disaster. Roast beef was RAW and inedible. Pork chops well overdone, dry and tough. Cold prawns completely tasteless. Meals not cheap and therefore poor value. Breakfast was expensive but OK. As for below, I would recommend accommodation but not meals as comparison with street outlets definitely in their favour.
The location was fabulous, only a short walk to the shops & harbour in Paihia. Rooms were easy to find and I liked the user friendly laundry facilities.
A couple of the front desk staff could have been a little more welcoming.
Its a good hotel to stay at because of the location and its reputation .
Because of the staff at reception .they were not proffesional people and they need proper training to work with such a good reputed hotel .I wont recomend any of my friends or family to stay at your hotel because of staff.
The staff was unfriendly; the location is great; too expensive for value / money!
Staff were extremely helpful and considerate and considered our ages before changing our booking from upstairs to downstairs. Very peaceful and quiet considering the size of the place. One lass, Ann was extremely helpful on the front desk with our iPad and further bookings throughout nz.
I thought the hotel was very good and we would stay there again if I was in the area. I know they gave 20/30 mins free wi-fi but in this day and age free wi-fi all the time would be better. Mary & Michael Cuthbert
Location was 1st, as we were going to use the ferry which is a short walk along the road
Good location, Nice pool, good housekeeping
Expensive Internet !!! (and only 20min in lobby) (Internet is like Hot & Cold water .. should be included these days !!)
Price Amenities and location
